Philosopher, theater-dancer, singer, with a strong passion for analog photography; Irene De Matteis synthesizes her oblique vision of art in a visionary Performer.
She started her youth training as an acrobatic dancer, and later continued with the study of gestural theatre, specialising in Theatre Pedagogy at Laboratorio Nove in Florence. There she graduated with Philosophy of Language. She extended her research to figurative and symbolic language, becoming passionate about Tarot and photography.
Her academic work in Philosophy informs her search for forms of thought that act directly in society and are not pure abstraction, hence she then specialised in performance using art in unconventional spaces and areas (supermarkets, post offices, railway stations, the street).

She worked for 4 years as an Artistic Mediator in Florence in "Quality Night”; a project born in Paris with Pierrots de la Nuits, and also experimented in Berlin within the Die Pop im Kiez - Toolbox project.
She collaborates as a performer with international artists such as Teatro Studio Krypton, Fosca, Fabbrica Europa, Atsushi Takenouchi, Compagnia Oxymoron.

She collaborates with the online magazine La Macchina Sognante doing writing and graphic interventions.
She published, with Campi Magnetici, "I Politici sono ovunque - Frammenti d'interferenze su mani birichine"; a book linked to the symbolism of Tarot, where she synthesizes her passion for writing and graphic elaboration.
After moving to Berlin, she started focusing on the study of singing and discovered the perfect combination of her passion for writing and performance in songwriting.
She currently lives in Berlin, where she works as a Theatrical Pedagogue and Performer, focusing her research on the connection of various disciplines.
